YMB reads printed material with voice and displays it big on the screen. It is the reading and magnifying machine born in Japan. Its interface languages are English, Japanese and Chinese.

It reads, with a clear voice, ordinary printed books, such as the books sold at bookstores and stored in libraries.
You can save in it a entire book and attach to it a title easy to understand.
You can keep up to about 1000 entire books in it.
In Japan, you can see it in many Braille libraries and public libraries.
Not only book contents can be saved; you can save all kinds of printed material.
You can also save the images scanned as they are.
In Japan, you can see its Japanese interface version also at the counters of some city halls.
You can read the mail you receive and know its contents.
With YMB, you can also play cds and dvds.
Before starting playing, it announces, with voice,what kind of cd has
been inserted: music cd, data cd, dvd, or daisy-recorded cd.
In case of playing dvds, a screen is required.
The contents read may be saved to USB memory as MP3 files or text files.
By connecting that usb memory to your pc, you can copy and edit the information saved by YMB and do with it as you wish.
In Japan, many visually impaired people own YMB personally and use it for late studies or for other tasks of daily life.

Text-reading mode
Scanning and recognition are very fast and the contents of the scanned material is read out in a voice very easy to understand.
- Scanning speed: 12 seconds
- Recognition speed: 14 seconds in average
- Recognisable characters/languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean
- Reading (pronouncing) languages: English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese and Korean
By changing the settings, you can make it to change pronunciation according to language when Simplified Chinese and English, Traditional Chinese and English, Japanese and English or Korean and English are written in one same page.
Magnifying mode
In this mode, the scanned images are displayed on the screen.
In case of a 19-inch screen, images may be magnified up to 30 times.
Also contrast and background may be adjusted, so that people with low vision can see the images easier.
In this mode, magnified text may be read out section by section by pressing certain keys.
CD mode
YMB plays music cds and dvds.
It can also play DAISY cds. When playing multimedia DAISY cds, text and images are displayed on the screen to support people with reading disabilities to read books.
Compatible with DAISY2.0 and DAISY2.02.
USB mode
Text data (Word, Excel, PDF, html, epub, etc) and/or audio data (MP3, WAV, WMV, MIDI) saved in USB memory may be played by YMB.
